Claire Sheldon conquers her hero

When Claire Sheldon was 10 years old, she liked the feel of a golf club in her hands.

So, her mother grabbed one of those tiny hands and took her to Brae Burn Country Club in Newton to watch and learn from a local golfer named Tara Joy Connelly as she competed in the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship. As it happened, Sheldon liked what she saw and stuck with the sport, and yesterday, 10 years later, got the chance to watch Connelly golf again.
