One of my favorite movies is Becket (1964). At first, Thomas Beckett, appears to be a Machiavellian figure, but in the end is revealed to be a man of honor and God. His friendship with King Henry the II is ironically destroyed, as a bi-product of King Henry the II’s decision to make Becket, Archbishop at the same time he served as, Chancellor of England. Becket learns of the difficulty in trying to serve two masters - King and God.
More.
