Kenny Huffman, 8, helped save a life on Christmas Day when he ran home for help after his uncle started having a heart attack during a walk.

On urgent run home, 8-year-old lost a shoe but helped save his uncle

RADCLIFF — After dinner Christmas night when the rest of the family was napping, 8-year-old Kenny Huffman and his uncle walked the dogs near his home in Radcliff.

Kenny didn’t realize that the walk would provide the opportunity for a heroic moment.

After walking for a while, Daniel Hardwick “grabbed his chest and fell to his knees” near the U.S. Cavalry Store, Kenny said...Hardwick arrived at the hospital in time to receive a “clot buster” injection. He said the procedure can only be done within an hour of a heart attack and Kenny’s quick actions gave him a chance.

On Dec. 27, Hardwick had five-bypass heart surgery at Jewish Hospital in Louisville and is recovering. From his hospital bed Hardwick said, “he did alright for me … he’s my little hero." Read full story.

Yes he is a real hero. Any child his age might have just paralized with fear and indecision.
